I once saw something on TV which had a young boy, about 13, candian commit suicide because he was being bullied online and being called a "gay". He was so upset about it that he asked out the prettiest girl in his class but got rejected. This made him lose all hope and he committed suicide. This boy was a good looking fellow, born in Canada to white parents he was destined to have a "happy" life. I was sad when i saw a perfectly fine young man end his life when it was almost certain that he would grow up to have a good life by our society's standards, this bit on TV got me thinking as to Why couldn’t this boy cope with bullying, why couldn’t he tell himself that he will get out of this and live a great life that would be fulfilling, well possibly because he was young and he didn’t talk to his parents about this but aren’t there a lot of people out there who feel like this and they just can’t get out of this. I know a lot of people who are unhappy and just can’t find a way to be happy. Most of them don’t commit suicide for a number of reasons but they would given the right circumstances. There are a lot of people who are unhappy and 99% of the times its the fault lines within the framework of our society, our superficial socializing orgies that have created this unrealistic world.
I know why i am unhappy, i want to be rich, famous, live a lifestyle that possibly Brad Pitt has, i would like to have an Iphone coz you know what they say...If you don’t have an Iphone you dont have a goddamn, freakiug Iphone. All this led me to think that God would not create us, its not his design whereby we evolve into mindless materialistic zombies. Why would God create humankind whose happiness depended on perceptions. Why would owning things make us happy. We are being increasingly manipulated into becoming a consuming society as it is the mantra which made USA a power house but the same mantra led to its downfall.(anyways consumerism conspiracy is a different blog, lets not deviate). All this got me thinking, Wouldn’t God if he really existed told us how we can be Happy? So i started reading religious scriptures, being a hindu i started with hindu things. When i read this scriptures, the prayers i found out that all this prayers essentially said only one thing. God is great, we are so small and he will give us what we want if we prayed "right". Praying in all religion is a very "sacred" part. If you didnt visited a mandir, a church, a masjid or whatever it is that you go to you are not being a good human being. I mean all you do while being religious is that you acknowledge that there is someone who is superior to you and that he holds the key to your happiness and that if you played your cards right you will get you wishes answered. you call this superior being GOD and religion was a sort of channel that led you connect with him/her/it for your Happiness.
All this made me realize that God is nothing but another word for our own "self", our mind, or brain, our thought if you will. It is our own perception of reality that creates this reality. Our own thought process makes us happy or sad. i know you would be reading this and think omg what a waste of time, another self-help deuchebag. But really, think about it people in the stone age knew this but couldn’t undertstand it so they created all the religious texts. We still believe in them coz we know what they really are. Religion is a way dumb people create REALIY., they think God will do it but its their own mind.
Happiness can be created, thats right thats what i mean, everything in this world is different with just a tweak in your perception. Prayers are like psychological pep talk that tells you that everything is goona be the way you want it to be. I would like to believe that that young candaian would have lived a great life had he told himself that it was just his perception that was making him unhappy.
If we just could see that our reality is sourced in our mind, our brain, our thoughts and if we just altered our own thoughts WE WILL BE OUR OWN GODS.
